Premier League Transfer Update: The Latest from all 20 Clubs (Part Two)
Just one week remains of the summer transfer window...
The 2025 summer transfer window has already seen a number of high profile moves. Big names such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres and many more have arrived, whilst the likes of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Heung-Min Son have quite sadly departed the Premier League.
But with one week still remaining in the transfer window, there’s opportunities for more drama and more deals to unfold…
Liverpool
An early flurry of activity saw Liverpool bring in the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and the record-breaking signing of Florian Wirtz. Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni soon followed in moves from Eintracht Frankfurt and Parma.
There has also been a number of key departures this summer including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
There’s still time for further arrivals. Whilst Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has stole the headlines, a move for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi remains more likely and perhaps a more pressing need after Liverpool’s defensive struggles. A fee of around £35m is expected to be enough to sign the English defender.
Should a move for Isak not materialise, Liverpool could turn to other options to strengthen their front line. PSG’s Bradley Barcola and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo have both been linked but that’s as far as that goes as it stands.
Manchester City
In terms of incomings, all eyes at Man City are firmly on a potential move to bring Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG, who has been told to leave the Champions League winners before the deadline. Personal terms have already been agreed between the two parties and club-to-club talks will now continue.
Pep Guardiola only recently signed James Trafford from Burnley, but he has endured a poor start to life at the Etihad. Ederson could still depart the club to make way for the Italian giant, with Galatasaray interested.
Savinho could follow out of the exit door as Tottenham Hotspur push to sign the forward in a deal worth in excess of £60m. The Brazilian is keen on the move, but City are yet to make a final decision on his future.
Everton remain interested in signing Nathan Ake but there have been no official talks as of yet. Manuel Akanji and Ilkay Gundogan could both leave before the deadline.
Manchester United
Many have been surprised by Man United’s transfer business so far with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko all bolstering their forward line.
But as it stands, the club are determined to clear some of the dead wood in the squad. Ruben Amorim has no plans for Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund.
Chelsea remain interested in signing Garnacho, who is valued at £50m by the Red Devils. A return to Real Betis remains most likely for Antony, who impressed there on loan last season.
Napoli are pushing to land Hojlund on loan for the upcoming season, with a potential buy option worth £39m.
Amorim remains keen on deepening his midfield options with Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Sporting CP’s Mortem Hjumland on their radar.
Newcastle United
It’s set to be a fascinating week for Newcastle United. The Alexander Isak saga has left the club in a hugely fragile situation as he looks to push through a move to Liverpool.
However, the red card to Anthony Gordon and the injuries to Sandro Tonali and Joelinton in the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool has left even more to think about over Isak’s future.
Eddie Howe remains keen to sign at least one striker before the deadline, regardless of the outcome of that saga. Newcastle had a £50m bid rejected for Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen, but they’re expected to return with a new bid for the striker.
A £40m bid for Brentford’s Yoanne Wissa was also rejected earlier in the week, with that deal looking trickier to complete by the day.
Should Newcastle land one of their striker targets, and Liverpool submit an offer closer to their £150m valuation for Isak, then they could have a decision to make.
Nottingham Forest
Last week saw both James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson join from Manchester City and Ipswich Town respectively, and more deals are expected.
Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Dilane Bakwa from Strasbourg, but no agreement has been reached for the 22-year-old yet.
Nuno Espirito Santo is very keen to add depth to the full-back areas amid concerns over the amount of minutes being played by Neco Williams and Ola Aina.
Sevilla defender Jose Carmona is high on their list and the club are working on a deal to sign the Spaniard.
Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas was another name on that list, but AS Roma are currently progressing in talks to sign the Premier League champion.
Sunderland
The Black Cats have spent big money on their return to the Premier League on the likes of Habib Diarra, Granit Xhaka, Simon Adingra and many more.
Despite signing Omar Alderete, Reinildo Mandava, Arthur Masuaku and Nordi Mukiele already to reinforce their defensive options, Regis Le Bris is keen to add one more.
Bologna’s Jhon Lucimi is their priority target and the player has just one year remaining on his deal.
The player is open to the move, but the Serie A side are standing firm in their not-for-sale stance as it stands.
Tottenham Hotspur
Despite there being just days remaining in the window, Spurs are still ready to show serious ambition.
Man City forward Savinho remains their top target after missing out on Eberechi Eze to rivals Arsenal.
Spurs are ready to spend more than £60m on the Brazilian but are awaiting the greenlight from Man City.
Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche is another name to watch out for, who is valued at around £50m.
However, Spurs are looking increasingly unlikely to sign midfielder Nico Paz from Como, who is valued in excess of £65m. Manager Cesc Fabregas has claimed that the young star is “very happy” at the Italian side.
In terms of outgoings, young defender Luka Vuskovic is expected to join Hamburg on loan for the season.
West Ham United
It’s hard not to feel a sense of disarray surrounding West Ham United at the moment, after conceding eight goals in their opening two Premier League games. But worryingly for West Ham and Graham Potter, more exits are likely rather than potential incomings.
Edson Alvarez has joined Fenerbahce on loan for the season, whilst Marseille are in talks to sign Emerson Palmieri following the arrivals of Malick El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters.
The future of Lucas Paqueta also remains uncertain with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa registering interest in the midfielder. The Brazilian is reportedly valued at around £40m, which could be an absolute steal.
Wolves
Similarly to West Ham, Vitor Pereira’s side have had a poor start to the season. It was always going to be a huge task to replace both Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri this summer and it has shown in their early performances.
Jorgen Strand Larsen could join those two names out of the exit door, but Wolves are standing firm despite interest from Newcastle United. They have already turned down a bid in the region of £50m for the striker.
However, Fabio Silva is set to leave as he looks to join Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth around £26m.
In terms of incomings, Wolves are in advanced talks to sign Ladislav Krejci from Girona to bolster their defensive options.
Regardless, Pereira has admitted his desire for further reinforcements ahead of next week’s deadline.
