Premier League Transfer Update: The Latest from all 20 Clubs (Part 1)
There's still plenty of moves to look out for...
The clock is ticking and the transfer deadline is pulling closer with every passing minute. It has been a truly memorable summer window, packed with intriguing narratives and mega-money deals.
Yet there’s still so much time for more moves and more drama. Here’s the first part of our transfer roundup, where you can keep up to date with all of the latest gossip in the Premier League.
Arsenal
The Gunners have reaffirmed their intentions to compete for the biggest trophies with a massive £194m spend. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres have all arrived this summer.
Eberechi Eze is set to become the next arrival after Arsenal agreed a £60m fee with Crystal Palace to hijack the move from their nearest rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Personal terms aren’t expected to be a problem and this deal could be wrapped up ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leeds United.
In terms of exits, Arsenal are in talks over deals that would see Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson and Oleksandr Zinchenko leave the club.
Leandro Trossard was another name tipped with a potential exit, but the Belgian has recently signed a new deal at the Emirates.
AFC Bournemouth
It has been a summer of big sales for the Cherries. Their backline was left in tatters as Dean Huijsen joined Real Madrid (£50m), Ilya Zabarnyi joined PSG (£55m) and Milos Kerkez left for Liverpool (£40m). Dango Outtara also left in a £42.5m move to Brentford earlier this week.
But Andoni Iraola’s side have acted quickly. Djorde Petrovic, Bafode Diakite and Adrien Truffert came in to reinforce the back line, whilst Ben Doak joined from Liverpool this week in a £25m deal.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli is expected to follow after completing his medical ahead of his £25m move last night.
Luis Sinisterra is expected to leave on loan before the deadline.
Aston Villa
It has been a quiet summer for Unai Emery’s side so far due to the strict PSR restrictions they find themselves under. Yasin Ozcan and Evann Guessand remain the only arrivals so far, costing around £33m in total.
That could change though, with PSG’s Marcos Asensio in line to return on a permanent deal after a successful loan stint at Villa Park last season. That deal is expected to cost in the region of £12.5m.
Emery is also keen to reunite with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who will leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The Blues’ £60m asking price currently stands as a hurdle in the way of further proceedings.
Should Jackson arrive, it would be interesting to see if it impacts Ollie Watkins’ future at the club with Newcastle United heavily interested.
Aston Villa confirmed yesterday that winger Leon Bailey would join AS Roma on loan for the season. The Jamaican forward follows Jacob Ramsey out of the door, who joined Newcastle United in a £40m move.
Brentford
Yoanne Wissa is currently dominating the headlines at Brentford at the moment. The 28-year-old is pushing hard for a move to Newcastle United, who has a £40m bid rejected for the striker yesterday. The Bees value Wissa at closer to the £60m mark, but the North East side remain confident of reaching an agreement before the deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur have now also registered their firm interest in Wissa after missing out on Eze to Arsenal.
It has been a turbulent summer for Brentford so far. They’ve already lost goalkeeper Mark Flekken, captain Christian Norgaard, top-scorer Bryan Mbuemo and head coach Thomas Frank.
Regardless of Outtara’s arrival from Bournemouth, losing Wissa would be a bitter pill to swallow.
Brighton
It has all gone a bit quiet on the South Coast in recent days. Manchester United’s interest in Carlos Baleba was the major talking point over recent weeks but Brighton’s valuation, which stands in a similar region to the £115m they received for Moises Caicedo, has silenced those whispers for now.
Fabian Hurzeler has already revealed his satisfaction with the window, claiming he would be ‘very happy’ if the window shut tomorrow.
The young head coach even suggested that he has too many players in his squad to choose from. Not a bad problem to have though!
Burnley
Upon their arrival back to the Premier League, it’s fair to say that Burnley have their sights set on survival. Only three newly-promoted sides have spent more than Burnley have so far this summer in the Premier League’s history.
Chelsea duo Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu are the centre pieces of their business and have been joined by the likes of Martin Dubravka, Loum Tchaouna and Bashir Humphreys.
After a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Scott Parker has admitted that they are still on the lookout for more deals but things are moving quite slow.
In terms of exits, Espanyol are in talks to re-sign Luca Koleosho on loan for the season.
Chelsea
In typical Chelsea fashion, they have absolutely stormed the summer transfer window so far with a £241m spend. Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato and Estevao have all joined in statement moves.
Julio Enciso became their latest signing last night, arriving from Brighton in a deal worth £20m. The forward will spend the upcoming season on loan at Strasbourg. His medical will take place later today.
Enzo Maresca’s side are in pole position to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. After being quoted £50m previously, they’re now confident of reaching a deal around the £40m mark. This one is considered a matter of time.
RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is also of high interest. Any deal for the Dutchman would cost in the region of £70m, but Manchester City are also interested.
There’s still plenty of work to be done in terms of departures. They have already generated £200m in player sales this season and the likes of Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are all still expected to leave this summer.
Renato Veiga is also set to join Villarreal in a deal worth £25m.
Crystal Palace
It’s going to be an emotional couple of weeks at Selhurst Park. Eberechi Eze’s £60m move to Arsenal is considered a matter of time but that’s not the end of it.
Captain Marc Guehi is subject to heavy interest from Liverpool and with just one year remaining on his deal, Crystal Palace could be forced into a sale for around £35m.
The good news is that Oliver Glasner has already identified his replacements for both players. Bilal El-Khannous is expected to join from Leicester City from £32m, whilst 20-year-old Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet is also on their radar.
Southampton’s Tyler Dibling is also appreciated but his price tag of £50m makes that deal tricky.
There has been speculation over the futures of Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta but they’re expected to stay for the forthcoming campaign.
Everton
After a slow start to the summer window, Everton are starting to make progress. Jack Grealish joined Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry through the door at the Hill Dickinson Stadium but Monday night’s performance against Leeds United highlighted the fragilities of David Moyes’ squad.
Like Crystal Palace, the Toffees are huge admirers of Dibling but again his price tag proves inconvenient.
Both full-back areas, as well as a right-winger and a central midfielder, are of priority as we head into the final days of the window.
In terms of outgoings, Everton will not listen to offers for Beto despite interest from Leeds United.
Fulham
The Cottagers have been incredibly quiet throughout the entirety of the window so far. But one positive from that is keeping together a squad that performer brilliantly last season.
Benjamin Lecomte remains the only incoming signing, who will add depth to the goalkeeping department behind Bernd Leno.
Fulham are keen on the idea of bringing back Reiss Nelson to Craven Cottage after a loan spell at the club last season.
In terms of outgoings, there were fears over Rodrigo Muniz’s future but he will remain at the club after a £35m bid from Atalanta was rejected this week.
